Water Testing & Analysis in Columbia

On-site water tests for homes in every Columbia village and across Howard County, often booked within a few days.

Start With Facts, Not a Sales Pitch

Every recommendation Columbia Water Filtration makes starts with a water test, and you can book one without committing to anything else. A technician comes to your home, tests the water at your tap and walks you through each reading in plain language. Columbia homeowners book tests when they notice spots, stains, odors or a taste they do not like, when they buy a new home or when local news raises a question about water quality. Well owners in western Howard County book them because nobody else is testing that water. The on-site test covers hardness, chlorine, iron, pH and total dissolved solids, and we can arrange lab testing for bacteria, lead, nitrates or PFAS when you need it. Most tests are scheduled within a few days.

What Your Water Test Covers

Here is what we check during a standard visit and what we can add.

  • Hardness

Measured in grains per gallon to tell you whether scale is likely and how fast it forms.

  • Chlorine and chloramine

The disinfectants behind most taste and odor complaints on public water.

  • Iron and manganese

The minerals that cause orange, brown and black staining.

  • pH

Low pH can corrode pipes, while high pH can affect taste and treatment choices.

  • Total dissolved solids

A general measure of what is dissolved in your water, useful for drinking-water decisions.

  • Hydrogen sulfide check

We test for the gas behind rotten-egg odors, especially on wells.

  • Lab bacteria testing

For wells, we can collect a sample for coliform and E. coli testing at a certified lab.

  • Lead, nitrate and PFAS options

Lab panels are available for specific contaminants you are concerned about.

  • Written results

You keep a written summary of every reading, whether or not you buy anything.

How Your Test Visit Goes

  1. Call and book

Tell us what you are noticing and whether you are on public water or a well. We find a slot in the next few days, including evenings and Saturdays. You only need to be home with access to a kitchen tap. We confirm the day before.

  2. Test at your tap

The technician runs each test in front of you, usually at the kitchen sink. You see the results as they come in. If lab testing makes sense, we collect samples on the same visit. The on-site part takes about thirty to forty-five minutes.

  3. Talk through the results

We explain what each reading means and whether it needs action. If treatment makes sense, you get a written recommendation and price. If your water is fine, we will tell you that too. There is no pressure to decide on the spot.
