Point-of-entry filtration
Whole-House Water Filtration in Columbia
One system where the water enters your home, installed for households from the Route 175 corridor to River Hill.
Clean Water From the Shower to the Laundry Room
A whole-house system from Columbia Water Filtration treats your water once, at the point where it comes into the house, so you are not chasing problems tap by tap. Most Columbia homeowners call us when they notice a chlorine smell in the shower, a film on the glass doors or a taste that follows them from the kitchen to the bathroom sink. The visit starts with a free water test at your tap, then a look at where your main line enters, which is usually the basement or a utility closet. We match the filter media to what the test shows and size the tank to your household's flow so pressure stays strong. In most homes the whole job, from shutting the water off to flushing the new system, fits into a single visit.
What a Whole-House Install Covers
Every install is fitted to your test results and your plumbing, but these are the pieces most jobs include.
Free in-home water test
We read chlorine, hardness, iron and total dissolved solids at your tap before recommending any equipment.
Point-of-entry location check
We confirm where your water enters and make sure there is room, a level surface and a drain nearby if the system needs one.
Flow and pressure sizing
The tank is sized to your bathrooms and household size so showers stay strong when the washer is running.
Sediment pre-filter
A pre-filter catches grit before it reaches the main media and stretches the life of the whole system.
Carbon or catalytic media
The main tank removes chlorine, chloramine and the tastes and smells that come with them.
Bypass valve
A three-valve bypass lets you send water around the system for maintenance or outdoor use without shutting off the house.
Code-compliant connections
New fittings, unions and a bonding jumper keep the plumbing and electrical ground intact.
Flush and start-up
We rinse the media until the water runs clean, then check every connection for leaks.
Walkthrough before we leave
You see how the bypass works, when the pre-filter gets changed and what a healthy system looks like.
Cleanup
Old fittings, packaging and any drips are cleared out so the space looks the way we found it.
How Your Whole-House Install Works
Test and walk the space
A technician tests your water at a faucet and then looks at where the main line enters the house. We note the pipe size, the available space and any drain or outlet we might need. You get a written price that covers equipment and labor before we leave. The visit usually takes under an hour.
Pick an install date
Most whole-house installs are scheduled within the same week as the test. We load the truck for your exact job so nothing has to be ordered later. Weekday and Saturday dates are both available. You only need to be home to let us in and see the walkthrough at the end.
Install, flush and hand over
We shut off the water, cut in the system with a bypass and connect everything to code. The media is flushed until the water runs clear and every joint is checked. Most installs take three to five hours. Before we pack up, you get the maintenance schedule and a direct number for follow-up.
Why Columbia Water Filtration for Whole-House Systems
Installed without a second trip
We plan the job at the test visit, so install day starts with every part already on the truck. Most homes have filtered water the same afternoon we arrive.
Sized so pressure stays strong
An undersized system is the most common complaint we hear about other installs. We size to your bathrooms and fixtures, not to whatever unit happens to be in stock.
Media chosen from your test
Public water in Howard County and well water out toward Glenwood need different treatment. The media in your tank comes from your readings, not a one-size package.
