Private well treatment
Well Water Filtration & Treatment in Columbia
Custom treatment for wells around Columbia and out along Route 97 through Glenwood, Woodbine and Highland.
Your Well, Your Responsibility, Our Help
Much of western Howard County runs on private wells, and Columbia Water Filtration builds treatment systems for those homes stage by stage. Unlike public water, well water arrives untreated, so what comes out of the tap is whatever the ground puts into it. Common complaints we hear from Glenwood, Woodbine, Highland and the edges of Columbia include orange stains, a rotten-egg smell, gritty water and hard scale on fixtures. Many families also call after a lender, a home inspector or a new baby prompts a bacteria test. We test first, then combine only the stages your results support, whether that is sediment filtration, iron and sulfur removal, softening or UV disinfection. Most well treatment systems are installed in a single long visit.
What Well Treatment Can Include
Every well is different, so these are the building blocks we choose from based on your test.
Comprehensive well test
We check bacteria, iron, manganese, hydrogen sulfide, hardness, pH and sediment.
Sediment filtration
A spin-down or cartridge stage catches sand and grit coming up from the well.
pH correction
Acidic well water is neutralized to protect copper pipes and fixtures from corrosion.
Iron and manganese removal
An oxidizing filter removes the minerals that cause orange and black staining.
Sulfur odor treatment
Hydrogen sulfide is oxidized and filtered out so the rotten-egg smell disappears.
Softening
A softener handles hardness after the iron stage so resin is not fouled.
UV disinfection
A UV chamber at the end of the treatment train disinfects water against bacteria and viruses.
Pressure tank area layout
Stages are arranged near the pressure tank with bypasses so each can be serviced on its own.
Well and plumbing sanitization
After install, we shock-chlorinate if bacteria was found and flush the household lines.
Retest and service plan
We can retest after install and set up a maintenance plan for every stage.
How Well Treatment Comes Together
Test the whole picture
We test your well water on site and send a bacteria sample to a lab when needed. We also look at the pressure tank area, the available space and the drain. Once results are in, you get a written plan and price for each stage. Expect about an hour on site.
Stage the full system
Most well systems are scheduled within a week of the test results. Every stage is staged and pre-assembled where possible, so install day stays efficient. We tell you how long the water will be off so you can plan around it. A reminder goes out the day before.
Install, sanitize, retest
We install each stage with bypasses, connect drains and program any valves. If bacteria was present, the well and plumbing are sanitized and flushed. Most full systems take five to seven hours. A follow-up test can confirm the results at your tap.
Why Well Owners Choose Us
Stages in the right order
Putting a softener ahead of an iron filter, or UV ahead of sediment removal, wastes money. We sequence the system so each stage protects the next.
Western Howard County experience
We work on wells from Glenwood to Woodbine every week. We know what tends to show up and what does not.
One long day, not three short ones
Even multi-stage systems usually go in on a single visit. You are not left with half a system over a weekend.
- Full well testing
- Stages sequenced correctly
- Written price before work
- Most systems in one visit
